All Student Flights shops to be rebranded as Universal Traveller, with further expansion planned.
Flight Centre MD Graham Turner has just announced the demise of its long-running Student Flights operation, which will be replaced by a new Universal Traveller brand to expand its appeal to a broader range of travellers.
Predominantly targeting the 18 to 35 demographic of students, backpackers and young professionals, Universal Traveller will highlight a full range of product categories including FIT, Adventure, Festivals and Touring – particularly Topdeck and Contiki.
Flights will also continue to be core for Universal Traveller (UT), including the exclusive Black Market range of discounted and flexible fares for students and under-30s.
“This is an exciting brand enhancement for our people, our customers and our suppliers, and is geared towards increasing our share of this large market sector,” Turner said.
He confirmed that as well as rebranding the 52 existing Student Flights shops across Australia, plans were also under way to expand the UT retail network in the future, mainly within the youth areas of major shopping centres.
Flight Centre’s internet-based StudentUniverse brand, currently operating in the USA and UK, will also soon launch in Australia “and will operate alongside UT as a dedicated online business targeting students and the broader youth sector,” Turner added.
