New ‘My Space’ Brochure Urges Social Networkers to Stop Downloading and Spend Their Downtime by the Beach with Real Friends
* New Stay 4, Pay 3 Deal *
A campaign that urges social networkers and ‘i’ gadget owners to go offline and spend quality downtime by the beach with real friends has been launched by Port Stephens Beachside Holiday Parks along with a new ‘stay four, pay three’ deal that offers holidaymakers savings of up to 25 per cent.
The new ‘My Space’ marketing campaign includes a fun and pun-filled colour brochure with creative and witty imagery and slogans that call on social media fans to put their face in a real book, to fish with a real line instead of phishing online, to eye a pod of dolphins or whales instead of playing with their ipods, to play a social game of tennis with real friends over a net instead of talking to virtual friends on a social network, and to surf the waves in a tube instead of watching You Tube.
The campaign being run by the four beachside holiday parks that make up the Port Stephens Holiday Parks chain also tempts Twitterers to hear birds tweet in the trees and encourages parents to let their kids shout ‘wiiiii’ down a slide as opposed to them playing with a Wii at home.
“We know that iphones, ipads, ipods and social media are integral to our lives now but I guess we feel that people need some holiday downtime away from these gadgets so they can connect with the real world which is why we are offering our holiday parks as sanctuaries away from the virtual world,” said Port Stephens Beachside Holiday Parks marketing manager, Madeleine Koosmen.
“We’re inviting gadget geeks to surf waves instead of the net, leave their remotes remote and pause their ipods so they can experience Port Stephens’ own playlist of attractions such as real pods of dolphins and whales and beautiful blue waters where fishermen can go online and catch up with the ‘reel’ world,” Mrs Koosmen added.
“We all need time out so we can find space in our lives to connect with nature, ourselves, our family and our friends face to face and our award-winning, resort-style holiday parks in Port Stephens, just 2½ hours north of Sydney, are perfect for this without breaking the bank.”
The Port Stephens Beachside Holiday Parks network includes Fingal Bay Holiday Park, Shoal Bay Holiday Park, Soldiers Point Holiday Park and Halifax Holiday Park. All four parks are nestled close to bay or ocean beaches and offer extensive recreational facilities as well as cabins and sites for tents or caravans.
* Until December 21, 2012, the four parks are offering savings of up to 25 per cent by allowing ‘i’ escapees to stay for four nights and pay for three. Cabins are priced from $177 for three nights but prices vary at each park. The offer is not available during school holidays, long weekends or public holidays. Conditions apply. The parks are also running a competition with a chance to win a seven-night holiday.
