IASC documents confirm application for A330-200 services.
The International Air Services Commission has just released details of an application from Virgin Australia for capacity which would allow it to operate daily services between “an Australian major gateway airport and both Beijing and Hong Kong”.
According to the VA document the airline is seeking an allocation of 1,925 seats per week on the China route, along with seven weekly frequencies on the Hong Kong route.
“These flights will be operated with Airbus A330-200 aircraft configured with 275 seats from 1 June 2017,” the application states.
The IASC is now inviting other applications for capacity on the routes, with the Virgin Australia submission following yesterday’s announcement of its major new alliance with Chinese travel and aviation giant HNA.
The closing date for making an application is Thursday 09 June.
