Youth operator Topdeck today announced its entry into North America with 16 trips exploring the best of the continent including New York, Las Vegas and the Canadian Rockies.
Launched to coincide with the 4th of July, the program features 15 itineraries in the US and one in Canada ranging from six to 20 days. Prices start from just $146 a day and trips will begin operating from April 2013.
The program includes:
- 20-day Coast to Coast trip from LA to New York (and reverse) from $3125*
- 19-day Greatest Parks of the US trip taking in the best national parks of the mid-west including Yosemite and Yellowstone from $2770*
- 16-day Southwest Adventure loop visiting Las Vegas, Grand Canyon, Yosemite National Park and Los Angeles from $2515*
- 12-day East Coast Adventure loop from New York taking in Washington DC, Niagara Falls, Boston and more from $2035*
- 11-day Canadian Rockies loop from Vancouver visiting Banff, Whistler and national parks from $2285*
- 7-day California Calling trip from San Francisco to LA (and reverse) from $1115*
The Coast to Coast and Southwest Adventure itineraries feature sector trips which make up the rest of the range. To celebrate the launch, Topdeck is offering a 5% discount on all trips booked and deposited by 31 August 2012.
“We’re extremely excited about breaking in to the North American market given Aussies’ growing love affair with the US in particular,” Topdeck sales manager Ben Ittensohn said.
“Countless people have been contacting us and asking when we’re going to start visiting North America, so we have high hopes that these trips will really take off.
“All itineraries will have the Topdeck hallmarks – knowledgeable and friendly crew, included meals, fun optionals and lots of included ‘Totally Topdeck’ experiences.”
They include a jeep tour with a native Navajo guide in Monument Valley, Utah, a party bus tour on the Las Vegas strip, a night time tour of Washington’s illuminated monuments and a hike on the Athabasca glacier in Canada. There’s also overnight stays in Yosemite National Park sleeping in hotels, lodges and tented cabins, a visit to an Amish farm and a Niagara Falls boat tour.
“These trips offer excellent value for money. For example, our 16-day Southwest Adventure costs $2555 (ex-Las Vegas) but the same itinerary on your own would cost $3125 – an extra $570,” Mr Ittensohn said.
“Anyone who’s crunched the numbers can tell you that it’s impossible to travel the continent, staying in the same standard of accommodation and eating the same quality of food, for anywhere near the price we charge for our trips.
“And what’s more, although tipping is widely expected in North America, Topdeck crews won’t be expecting any tips themselves because all crew tipping is included in our trips – unlike other youth brands.”
Topdeck is also offering a multi trip, friends & discounts and past passenger discounts on all trips up to the value of 15%.
A recent Topdeck survey found the US and Canada was challenging Western Europe as the number one travel destination for young Aussies, with interest being fuelled by cheap airfares and a robust Australian dollar.
