Jetset Travelworld Group has just announced the firm’s ceo succession plan, which will see Peter Lacaze step down to be replaced by former Qantas executive Rob Gurney at the end of Sep 2012.
“I would like to offer my personal thanks to Peter for the exemplary way in which he led Stella Travel Services into the merger with Jetset Travelworld in 2010 and his subsequent leadership of the Jetset Travelworld Group,” Chairman Tom Dery said.
Gurney is well known within the industry, and was most recently Group Executive, Commercial of Qantas.
“The Board believes that Rob is the best person to take Jetset Travelworld forward in what is an increasingly fast-evolving and challenging environment,” Dery said.
Gurney will take on the post as ceo Designate from 27 Aug, working closely with Lacaze over a 5 week period “to ensure a smooth transition and continuity.”
Dery said Lacaze had informed the JTG Board of his plan to retire effective 30 Sep, and paid tribute to the current ceo, referring to him as a “stalwart of the travel industry”.
Lacaze said he was confident Gurney would “lead the company successfully.”
“During August it is business as usual throughout the company,” Lacaze said.
