Meals, wide-body aircraft for Virgin Australia Perth flights.
Virgin Australia has just announced “major enhancements” for travellers flying from Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne to Perth, including more internationally-configured wide-bodied aircraft, increased frequencies and inclusive catering.
From 21 Sep, when Virgin Australia’s fifth A330 enters service, these aircraft will be used for all services between Melbourne and Perth.
A330s will also operate three out of four daily frequencies on the Sydney-Perth route, while Brisbane-Perth flights will increase to three daily 737-800 aircraft.
Also, effective from 26 Sep all economy class guests on trans-continental flights will be offered a fully inclusive hot meal, beverages throughout the flight and inflight entertainment, regardless of the fare type purchased.
“Enhancing the travel experience from the East Coast to Perth is an important part of our strategy to become the airline of choice in Australia,” said Virgin Australia Group Executive of Alliances, Network and Yield, Merren McArthur.
“We have listened to our guests and we understand that consistency of product and services, a competitive schedule and inclusive catering and entertainment make a real difference on these longer journeys,” she said.
Virgin Australia’s new A330s have 24 lie-flat business class seats with a 1.5m pitch, along with 255 economy class seats – all equipped with seat-back inflight entertainment on demand and in-seat power and USB connectivity.
