THE 4th annual TravelManagers Australia conference attracted 150 Personal TravelManagers (PTMs) and 25 preferred suppliers over the weekend in Melbourne. Themed ‘Creating Value,’ the PTMs attended sessions to learn about growing their businesses and databases, learning how to get more from the group’s Amadeus partnership, going mobile, motivation, goal setting and corporate travel management. Exec gm Mandy Scotney said the company has challenged ourselves to deliver more value” to its members over the last year with the introduction of an inhouse booking system, enhancements to its marketing offering, website and exclusive product in its email newsletters. Three new preferred suppliers were also added recently – Bunnik Tours, Beachcomber Holidays and ANZCRO – and they were in attendance at the two day event along with others including Club Med, CIT Holidays, Rail Plus, Scenic Tours and Evergreen Tours as well as Fiji Tourism who sponsored a cocktail party on the first night of the conference. Information supplied by TravelManagers TravelManagers highly successful 2011 conference culminated in their awards function to recognize excellence on the Saturday evening. Naturally their 325 personal travel managers were in the spot light with nine categories to reward outstanding sales and service. The highest award of Top Personal Travel Manager was awarded to John Gazal representative from Roseville, New South Wales/ACT. Of the possible nine categories Mr. Gazal picked up five awards, an outstanding achievement given he has only been with TravelManagers for 22 months. Mr. Gazal remarked he was over whelmed by the weekend. “The weekend conference was an awesome opportunity to share ideas and experiences with my fellow peers. I am very grateful for the personal accolade of Top Personal Travel Manager and thankful for the opportunities afforded me throughout my career.” Personal travel manager Daniela Tatonetti, representative for Wanneroo, Western Australia continued her amazing week, not only was she one of five finalists in the Avis Scholarship of Excellence on Tuesday night, she received three awards from TravelManagers. She was named in their top 10, the most improved for her state and overall Most Improved Personal Travel Manager. “It’s been a fantastic week; I love being a personal travel manager and am so proud to work with TravelManagers.” Both Mr. Gazal and Ms Tatonetti received a ticket from Singapore Airlines to travel to Europe for their Top Personal Travel Manager and Most Improved Personal Travel Manager Awards. Rebecca Crosbie was awarded the Personal Travel manager Recognition Award and received a ticket to Bangkok with Thai International. A full list of the awards and recipients is shown below. In addition to the personal travel manager awards there is a recognition award for Partner Supplier of the Year. Chief executive for TravelManagers’ Joe Araullo says having such an award is recognition of how it perceives its suppliers. “Our suppliers are part of our family. TravelManagers respects immensely the relationships we have with our suppliers and the contribution they make to our personal travel managers with exclusive Educationals and training plus great product at fantastic prices. Perth based wholesaler Asia Escape Holidays was a deserved winner of this award with sales growth of 182 percent this year.” The National Partnership Office Support Award is for the member of the support team who the personal travel managers believe has performed strongest in supporting the network throughout the year. Mr. Araullo says Jose Canas, Head of Fares and Ticketing certainly earned his award. “The workload Jose and his team endured this year was significant with the flow on effect of the natural disasters and other events this year. It really has been unprecedented with the Christchurch Earthquake, the Japan Tsunami, the Chile Ash Cloud, the Bangkok Floods and Qantas Grounding to name a few.
