QANTAS pulled out all the bells and whistles at Sydney Airport this morning in celebration of its inaugural B747 service between Sydney and Perth (page 2).
As part of the farewell celebrations, a flash mob entertained passengers at the boarding gate who were bound for Perth on QF581 which was scheduled to depart at 10am.
The disco-dressed group performed a dance routine to the Village People’s hit song Go West – an appropriate tune to launch the carrier’s new internationally configured east-west services.
Qantas chief executive Alan Joyce was also on hand at the airport this morning to farewell passengers, saying “the changes are about delivering business and leisure travellers what they want”.
A ceremonial cake cutting was also held prior to take-off, with delicious slices shared with passengers as they boarded the new B747 jumbo service.
