Entering its 26th year, Helen Wong’s Tours has come of age when it comes to the use of new technology.
In keeping up with rapid changing times, the leading specialist for China and Vietnam tours has included throughout its glossy 2013-2014 brochures a series of quick response (QR) codes which allow Smart Phone owners the chance to watch “virtual tour” video coverage of major areas featured in the programs.
“It’s simple, fun and easy to capture, and provides interested customers the chance to see firsthand many of the cities featured in the various itineraries,” said managing director and founder, Helen Wong.
“Scan the code in the China brochure of our 26-day Splendid Yangtze tour, for example, and you will not only see a map of the route but individual short videos on the major cities visited, including Shanghai, Hangzhou, Xian, Guilin and capital Beijing.
“And, of course, a cruise on the Yangtze is also incorporated in the code,” she said. “Each video is accompanied by music and commentary and makes for valuable viewing in making your decision to travel.”
At the tail of each video is a call for action phone number.
The introduction of the QR codes is a highlight of the new “easier to navigate and clearer to read” China brochure which features three new group tours.
This comprehensive brochure also puts much emphasis on Helen Wong’s Tours’ Encounters Programs, designed for those who prefer the freedom and flexibility to pre-plan private travel on a preferred date – ideal for family and independent travellers.
As was the case in Helen Wong’s Tours previous 25th Anniversary brochure, departures with a minimum of two travellers will be again be guaranteed on 10 of the 19 group itineraries.
Such is the popularity of luxury cruising on the Yangtze that the China specialist has inserted the Three Gorges experience in one of the new tours, the 19-day Incredible China, priced from $5780 per person, twin share from Australia.
This exciting itinerary, which includes the cruise aboard American-owned Victoria Cruises luxury craft, also visits to the seaport of Xiamen, Wuyishan, Shanghai, Xian (home of the Terracotta Warriors) and capital Beijing.
The two other new group tours (prices from Australia) are:
• 15-day Mystical China, from $5060pp, twin share;
• 17-day Enchanting China, from $5950pp, twin share.
“The new brochure not only outlines new tours and exciting new features but is easier to navigate and clearer to read,” said Helen Wong.
“By adding quick response codes, we are able to offer virtual tours of the regions for Smart Phone owners who have the application,” she said. “We are going through exciting times as we prepare for the company’s 26th year or organising tours to China from Australia and to have such a function as the QR application highlights that.”
Helen Wong’s Tours will also continue to offer good value for money through its use of quality accommodation and “Helen’s Choice” series of bonus experiences included in the group and premium tour itineraries – at no additional cost.
Among the bonuses is a guaranteed cabin on the executive deck of Victoria Cruises’ Yangtze ships, along with a number of “Boutique Lifestyle” benefits on each cruise.
“And once again, our brochure group tours will be no larger than 25,” said Helen Wong.
Group tours from the China brochure start at $3990 per person, twin share from Australia for the 12-dat China Discovery.
Also of interest are the pages devoted to stopover packages in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Macau and China’s Hawaii of the Orient, Hainan Island.
