Sundowners Overland celebrates the launch of its 50th Anniversary Brochure with a unique overland journey from Singapore to London.
Sundowners Overland has been sharing Asia Overland, differently, since 1964 and are very proud to announce the launch of its 50th Anniversary Brochure, the Complete Guide to the Trans Siberian Railway, Mongolia, India and the Silk Road.
For the past 50 years, Sundowners Overland has been crossing Asia from India to Europe and most places in between. Today, as the world’s leading Asia Overland tour operator, they offer the most extensive choice of overland journeys across the region.
Since the 1955 Oxford and Cambridge ‘First Overland’ Far Eastern Expedition, generations of travellers have been inspired to follow in their footsteps from London to Singapore and vice versa, including the original Sundowners Overland journey, which set off from Australia in 1964. In those days, the only way to follow a similar route was to ship the vehicles to India and continue overland from there, as the borders of Burma (Myanmar) had become impenetrable shortly after the 1955 expedition.
Since then, while the world has changed significantly, the allure of lesser travelled regions has never been stronger. In celebration of 50 years of ‘Sharing Asia Overland, Differently’, Sundowners Overland has designed a special departure for its 50th Anniversary Journey; a contemporary interpretation of the route that has inspired Asia Overland travel for generations.
Departing from Singapore, this epic 55 day journey will cover some 17,500 km overland through Malaysia, Thailand, Myanmar, China, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Germany, Belgium and France to London.
