Warped, Twisted and Wrapped at Crown Promenade Hotel
July 4, 2012
Melbourne’s Crown Promenade recently held a launch for the Paris Kyne ‘ Warped, Twisted and then Wrapped’ Exhibition in the Crown Promenade Hotel lobby with our General Manager, Greg Moore.
This exhibition title “Warped, Twisted and then Wrapped” focuses on 3D wirework and plays with the illusions of both positive and negative space. 3D wirework is a frame made out of wire which is then covered in braid. Paris has used vintage Swiss petti pearl braid in all these works. Each of the eight pieces has been hand sculptured (warped), then the wires are joined together (twisted) and finally the completed frame is covered in braid (wrapped).
Crown Promenade Hotel’s General Manager, Greg Moore said, “We are thrilled to have an installation of Paris Kyne’s works at Crown Promenade Hotel. The recent refurbishment of the lobby and the modern works of art by Paris truly enhance this public space.”
Crown Promenade Hotel’s lobby was recently renovated by Sydney-based architect and interior designer, Blainey North & Associates. The result is plush red and cream furniture and carpet set amongst floor-to-ceiling windows that open the space and give it a fresh, welcoming and modern feel.
