A group of Travel Counsellors have just returned from a unique familiarisation trip in Thailand. The exclusive educational, which was hosted by The Unique Tourism Collection and Thai Airways, saw five of the company’s agents fly to the popular tourist destination to build up their familiarity and knowledge of the country.
On the trip the agents were able to experience both sides to Thailand visiting the southern islands of Krabi, Khao Lak and Phuket and the city of Chiang Mai in the north. The group participated in a varied range of excursions including an elephant trek, a Thai cooking class at Rayavadee and a boat ride through the jungle near Khao Lak. The activities provided first-hand experience of the country which will provide invaluable knowledge to future customers.
Victoria based Travel Counsellors Trish O’Brien commented: “The trip provided the perfect opportunity to explore and experience this diverse country first hand. It is so great that even as a home based agent, Travel Counsellors provides the opportunities to experience new destinations which enables me to expand my knowledge to best assist my clients. There is no substitute to selling a holiday from real experiences instead of from what you read in a brochure. I have picked up so many helpful tips which I can’t wait to pass on to my customers.”
Country Manager, Tracy Parkinson comments: “As these educationals are exclusive to Travel Counsellors it really helps to build on the strong sense of friendship and camaraderie which we have as a company. It is a great opportunity for our agents to get together to draw on each other’s experience and knowledge. We strive to offer a range of educationals to our Travel Counsellors throughout the year and will continue to arrange initiatives to broaden our TC’s travel knowledge.”
