The Business Events attractions and facilities of Cairns & Great Barrier Reef are on show this week for a group of high powered Chinese business executives.
Director of Business Events Cairns & Great Barrier Reef, Rosie Douglas says the Chinese Outbound Conference and Incentive market is growing rapidly and Australia is a very desirable destination.
The decision makers from seven large companies have a keen interest in bring their conference and incentive groups to Australia, and in particular Cairns.
“We have designed an itinerary which includes experiencing the natural assets of our region along with local cuisine and the unique offsite venues we offer for dinners” Ms Douglas said.
While holiday visits to Cairns & Great Barrier Reef has been growing strongly (up 15% for year ending March 2012, and now Cairns #1 international market), the level of buzz Cairns has created in the Chinese holiday market is attracting the attention of the corporate sector.
“Recent research proved the Chinese business events market is attracted to destinations that offer safety, value for money, natural scenery and innovative team building activities in unique landscapes. For these reasons, Cairns are in a strong position to capitalise on the Chinese market” said Penny Lion, Head of Business Events Australia.
“Another key take out from the new research was the importance of building relationships with event planners, associations, travel agencies and corporate end users in China. This week’s educational visit is the perfect opportunity for Cairns & Great Barrier Reef operators to build relationships and influence Chinese event executives” said Lion.
Stimulating demand from the Chinese Business Events market adds to the push for direct aviation services from China to Cairns, which are firmly on the agenda for Tourism Tropical North Queensland, Cairns Airport and Tourism Queensland.
