Sabre Pacific employees from across Australia and New Zealand have donated in excess of 100 hours to local community projects as part of its National Volunteer Week [13-17 May].
Gai Tyrrell, CEO at Sabre Pacific, says the event is aligned to Sabre’s global Give Time Together campaign, which sees staff encouraged to get out of the office for a day to make a difference in their local communities.
“Give Time Together is one of the many ways Sabre gives back to our local communities. I’m proud to be part of such a charitable company and it’s very nice to know we are making a difference in people’s lives,” says Tyrrell.
Sabre Pacific volunteers in Sydney took time out to ‘cook for a cause’ and feed someone in need with OzHarvest Food Rescue and sort donations in St. Peters for the Salvos.
In Brisbane, staff members took over a local thrift shop in support of the St Veronica Welfare Committee.
Meanwhile, in Auckland Sabre volunteers got their hands dirty removing rubbish from Waitemata Harbour and the inner gulf islands to assist with the Watercare Harbour Cleanup.
Lisa Stapleton, Volunteer Coordinator at OzHarvest, says the organisation is grateful for Sabre Pacific in taking part in this initiative.
“Corporate Volunteering is an integral part of our organisation at Oz Harvest. It allows us to accomplish so much more than we ordinarily could and engage businesses in the work we do and make a huge difference in the process. We created ‘team building events with a cause’ and our most sought after are our ‘Cooking for a Cause’ events. We appreciate the support we have through our volunteer program,” says Stapleton. |
