Travelscene American Express educational group departed Perth on SAA A340-300 enroute to Johanesberg, then onto Livingstone (Zambia)
Seeing the Victoria Falls from Zambia and Zimbabwe was an absolute blast you don’t expect to become completely drenched just by looking at the falls. April – June the water levels are at their highest, it’s an invigorating experience being absolutely soaked whilst walking around the falls.
Experience of a lifetime when we were able to walk and pat the lions just outside of Livingstone in Zambia.
A herd of around 1000 buffalos surrounded our truck as the animals slowly wandered down to the water hole. We got to experience 2 lion sightings in Chobe National Park, along with many elephants, giraffes, monkeys, baboons, hippos, african wild cats, mongoose, kudu’s and the highlight was seeing a leopard having just captured an impala and seeing it dragging it’s kill 10 metres behind our truck.
Everywhere we went, we were thanked for sending Australian tourists to Africa and the staff at all our accommodation lodges were wonderfully delightful and couldn’t do enough for us. Some of the wonderful places we stayed at were; David Livingstone Resort and Spa; The Royal Livingstone Hotel; Victoria Falls Safari Lodge; The Kingdom at Victoria Falls.
Highlights were staying at the Chobe Game Lodge in Botswana, where it’s all inclusive. The staff like to change the dinner location every night depending on the number of guests. We got to experience a traditional African BBQ outdoors surrounded by the Chobe River and many wild African animals. The menu was ever changing and food at the high tea events, breakfasts and lunches were simply divine.
We enjoyed a traditional Boma dinner in Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe) which included crocodile, wart hog, impala, antelope, and guinea fowl to mention a few delicacy’s on the menu.
The 8 day whirlwind trip that travelled to Livingstone in Zambia, Chobe National Park in Botswana and Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe was eye opening for the 12 travellers, 11 who had never travelled to that region in Africa before. The group fell in love with the scenery, the animals and most importantly the people who showed them such a fantastic time in Africa. This trip will most certainly enable the agents to sell SAA, Adventure World and Africa as a destination with confidence. The trip has opened their eyes to Africa being a destination for all travellers.
