Cook Islands Tourism hit the road the week of April 29 to highlight the best of this rising star of South Pacific travel in Brisbane, Melbourne, Newcastle and Sydney.
The evening trade presentations themed ‘It takes a village’ featured an exhilarating cultural showcase of inimitable Cooks’ experiences. The program also included speed training from 12 visiting suppliers, wholesaler networking, a destination update and a spectacular dancing and drumming performance.
A team of talented Cook Islanders were recruited to give cooking demonstrations, tips on pareu tying and head garland making, Polynesian tattoo interpretations and samples of the Cook Islands’ new natural skin care range Te Tika.
More than 400 agents attended the Roadshow events.
Additionally, 100 management and media guests were entertained on The Island, Cook Islands-style, and hundreds came to a public event, the Cook Islands Cultural Showcase, at the National Maritime Museum on Saturday to conclude the week. More than 500 serves of the Cook Islands’ famous marinated fish dish ika mata were served on the day, interspersing dancing and drumming performances, pareu tying demonstrations and weaving displays.
