EVERY STEP IN HELEN WONG’S WALK FOR CHARITY COUNTS
May 7, 2013
Every sore muscle counted for something special . . .
That’s how Helen Wong summed up the weekend at a park in suburban Kellyville as she and members of her staff clocked up the essential laps in the fund-raising Hills Relay for Life annual event for the Cancer Council of NSW.
Not only did the team add much-needed dollars to the weekend tally of more than $300,000.
Between walks – and the odd jog – each was busily selling tickets in the giant raffle.
And not surprisingly, the main prize was a $6000 trip for two to China, donated by the China specialist of 26 years.
A Sydney Hills District local herself, Helen said it was great thrill and honour to be a part of such an exciting event which was led by a number of cancer survivors and their devoted carers.
“It wasn’t unusual for many to shed a tear after hearing of the stories of hardship over the weekend,” said Helen who also donated $2000 on top of the prize. “Every sore muscle counted for something special in this relay.”
