Once again, French gastronomy proved to be the best in the world, being UNESCO World Heritage listed, with 60 guests such as famous chefs, travel industry leaders and French companies who gathered yesterday for a “Presidential Luncheon”.
Sponsored by ATOUT FRANCE, AIR FRANCE and SOFITEL SYDNEY WENTWORTH, this exquisite luncheon was prepared by Daniele Mazet Delpeuch, the former Private Chef of the French President Francois Mitterrand, who inspired the opening movie of the French Films Festival, “Haute Cuisine”.
Like at the Elysée Palace in Paris the decoration was magnificent with $20,000 CHRISTOFLE golden plates and silver centrepieces.
Daniele, from the Dordogne region, was recommended by Michelin star Chef Joel Robuchon to the French President, and has cooked for the most renowned leaders of the world such as Bill Clinton and the Chancellor of Germany.
The French President told her that he wanted “the best France could offer”: “If you make me the cuisine of my grandmother, I will be satisfied”.
Nicknamed as “Countess de Barry”, after the favourite Mistress of Louis XV, Daniele used to live in a small apartment in a complex of government buildings, which also housed Mitterrand’s mistress and their daughter.
