With the generous support of Bunnik Tours and Emirates, eight personal travel managers of TravelManagers Australia have immersed themselves in ten days of the best Egypt has to offer with three nights on the return journey to explore the wonders of Dubai.
One of the most romantic and mystical travel destinations on earth was offered up to TravelManagers’ personal travel managers in November, giving recognition to the high number of their satisfied clients that have enjoyed a Bunnik Tours escorted holiday over the last year.
Participants experienced the ancient Valley of the Kings, the colossal Abu Simbel – sculpture of the pharaohs, and a high tea at the mystical seat of Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile.
“I knew what to expect of course, but the experience was breathtaking,” says Karen Christie representative of Woody Point (Queensland), who adds that the spontaneous floating markets at Esna Lock was a highlight.
“As we floated by, locals rowed so close also running alongside our ship throwing their goods at us. If we wanted it we haggled and threw money back in a plastic bag. If we didn’t want it we threw it back. The frenzy was exhilarating.”
Anita Medcalf, representative of Trundle, New South Wales says she was so proud to be part of the group, recognised for their success in the industry.
“It was a great reward for our hard work. The hot air balloon ride over the Nile and valley in Luxor was a really dramatic experience for me, to see the contrast between the fertile green banks and the desert beyond. It left me speechless,” she smiles.
Chrissy Tayfield represented TravelManagers National Partnership Office for the trip and says that while their personal travel managers receive many invitations to join trips across the world for general and specialist or niche suppliers, the exclusive TravelManagers famils are something special. This was TravelManagers’ eighteenth exclusive famil since they began them in 2009 and the eighth for 2012.
“Because our personal travel managers work independently and from home, the experience of going on tour with their TravelManagers peers to a destination like this is unparalleled,” Tayfield explains.
“It’s an opportunity not just to explore the destination, which is thrilling, but to bond and discuss selling techniques with each other, to identify opportunities for cooperating in promotions and also to give everyone the chance to build an even stronger personal relationship with our host partner suppliers.”
Joining Tayfield, Christie and Medcalf on the exclusive famil were Annelieke Huijgens of Bunnik Tours; Michelle Thomas of Norah Head and Pamela Edwards of East Gosford (New South Wales), Kim Salter of Fitzroy North and Penny Meallin of Seaford (Victoria), Lori Lysaght of Mount Samson (Queensland) and Erryn Morris of Gooseberry Hill (Western Australia).
