Sydney residents, Daiana Szwarcberg-Poch and her partner Dom Gresham left their ordinary life behind recently and travelled to South Africa on a two week trip, thanks to South African Tourism.
Travelling through Kruger National Park, Johannesburg and Cape Town, Daiana and Dom ticked many items off their Bucket Lists and were blown away by everything the Rainbow Nation has to offer. Their personal highlights included going on safari, getting up close and personal with elephants and sharks, and spending time with the local people in Soweto.
Daiana and Dom also experienced the incredible wildlife at various private world-class nature reserves including Kruger National Park, Grootbos and Mala Mala.
“Dom and I had such an amazing time in South Africa. Everything we did was spectacular! Our favourite part of the trip was definitely going on safari in Kruger National Park. We were lucky enough to see the ‘Big Five’ as well as many more. It was amazing to be so close to the animals and see them in their natural habitat. This is an experience you will never forget and unquestionably something Aussies should add to their Bucket Lists,” explained Daiana.
“The hotels we stayed in were incredible! My personal favourite was The Oyster Box. It’s the most luxurious hotel I have ever stayed at,” added Daiana.
“Visiting Cape Town was also really special; it’s such a vibrant city. I would also recommend visiting Soweto in Johannesburg. Spending time with the locals there gave us a much deeper understanding of South Africa’s people, culture and history.”
Both Daiana and Dom are keen to return to South Africa to continue their adventures and tick other items off their Bucket Lists. “We would like to explore cities such as Durban and Port Elizabeth and to discover more of South Africa by travelling along the scenic Garden Route,” said Daiana.
Lalie Ngozi, South African Tourism General Manager Australasia, is herself a proud South African and was delighted to hear about Daiana and Dom’s experiences in her homeland.
“Nothing makes me happier than knowing that someone else has had the opportunity to experience how amazing South Africa is. It’s so wonderful to hear about Daiana and Dom’s South Africa adventure. I hope they are able to visit again in the company of their family and friends,” said Ms Ngozi.
“Visiting South Africa is guaranteed to be a life-changing experience and one that I believe is a Bucket List essential. South Africa is a unique holiday destination in that it simultaneously offers adventure, world-class safaris, excellent food and wine, a rich culture and history; all complemented by some of the friendliest people in the world.”
“Now is the perfect time to visit South Africa as the exchange rate is excellent, the weather is warm and Table Mountain, which was recently announced as one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature, offers some of the best views in summer,” added Ms Ngozi.
