The first 13 Australians to be employed as China Southern Airlines Australia-based cabin crew have begun training in the airline’s bustling hub of Guangzhou in southern China.
Halfway through a 52-day course that mixes cabin service training with lessons in Chinese culture, the Aussie crew are shown enjoying some time out in front of the famous Chen Family Ancestral Temple in the ancient Cantonese city of 13 million people.
When training ends next month this Sydney-based group will become the first Australians to join China Southern’s inflight service on Airbus A330 flights between Australia and China.
China Southern will hold a second recruitment drive in April to add to the Sydney-based crew with plans to include Australian crew members on all flights from Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.
