Orient Express Travel Group chief to become AFTA director.
Tom Manwaring, founder of Orient Express Travel Group which includes Express Ticketing and the Independent Travel Group & Select Travel Group travel agency networks, has accepted an invitation from the AFTA board to fill a casual vacancy.
He replaces Peter Brady from Carlson Wagonlit Travel who recently resigned, with the move following the AFTA annual general meeting in Sydney last Friday.
After the meeting Mike Thompson was also reappointed as AFTA chairman, with Flight Centre md Graham Turner and Helloworld ceo Elizabeth Gaines named as vice chairs of the Federation.
“The board will continue to set the policy agenda for the organisation, and the addition of Tom Manwaring to the board will greatly increase the representation across a diverse travel agency community in Australia,” said AFTA ceo Jayson Westbury.
Manwaring said he looked forward to contributing to the future of the industry as an AFTA director.
