Larger meals, Select on Q Eat for economy passengers.
Qantas has just unveiled details of a new inflight dining offering which it says will “redefine the travel experience for international Economy customers”.
To roll out across the Qantas network from 25 November, the new menu will also see a wider choice of meals and 50% larger servings.
The Select on Q Eat online service will be extended into the Economy cabin, with passengers able to pre-order their meal online, while there will now be four meal options including a healthy option, “comfort food” and a meal inspired by the route itself such as Smoky Barbeque Beef on US flights.
Service will be revamped with new plates which remove the need for trays, meaning crew will be able to serve and clear meals up to 30 minutes faster.
“We have worked closely with Australia’s leading producers and suppliers to deliver what we believe to be the best inflight economy dining experience offered by any international carrier,” said ceo Alan Joyce.
The move is the outcome of a 12 month project in which trials were run on a number of international flights. Customer satisfaction on those services with the new meal options almost doubled, hitting record highs, Joyce said.
The new meal options will roll out gradually, with the Melbourne-Dubai-London route first on 25 November followed by Sydney-Dubai-London on 26 November, 28 November on Tasman routes, 05 December on Perth-Auckland, 09 December on US services, 03 January on Vancouver, 13 January on Singapore, 10 February on Hong Kong and other routes effective 01 March 2015.
