ATAS required for agents to sell Virgin Australia fares.
The AFTA Travel Accreditation Scheme (ATAS) has received a boost with the revelation this morning that Virgin Australia will mandate that any travel agent requesting a new credit facility with VA will be required to hold ATAS accreditation.
The move, just announced, was confirmed during the regular AFTA board meeting earlier this week, which was hosted by senior Virgin Australia executives.
Virgin Australia’s gm global sales, Shirley Field, acknowledged the extensive groundwork undertaken by AFTA which led to the creation of ATAS.
“Our unique and long-standing relationship with AFTA will further enhance the already high standards of the Austalian travel sector..moving forward Virgin Australia will be requiring any travel agent requesting to have credit facilities with our organisation to be ATAS accredited,” she said.
“Virgin Australia is proud to be an integral part of Australia’s travel market, one of the most highly competitive, innovative and adaptable travel sectors in the world…we value greatly our relationship with travel agents across Australia and will continue to do this in the new deregulated environment,” Field added.
