Up to five weekly Auckland-Houston non-stop services from December.
Air New Zealand has this morning confirmed a new trans-Pacific route, with direct flights between Auckland and Houston, Texas to commence in December 2015.
The carrier will use its fully refitted Boeing 777-200 aircraft on the route, with the move further opening up America’s south to Australians and New Zealanders.
Air NZ will also debut its new Buenos Aires flights later this year, with ceo Christopher Luxon saying the carrier is “absolutely committed to expanding our Pacific Rim network.
“Houston offers our customers direct access into the heart of the American south and a world of new tourism experiences,” he said.
NZ’s Star Alliance partner United Airlines operates a major hub in Houston, and will code share on the new Air New Zealand Pacific route. NZ will also code share onwards from Houston on UA flights to other key US domestic destinations as well as Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean.
Tickets for the new route are expected to go on sale next month.
