Fly-in fly-out alliance aims to grow charter businesses.
Alliance Aviation Services Limited and Virgin Australia Holdings Limited have just announced a new long-term strategic partnership, which will allow them “to develop a compelling customer proposition and to more effectively compete in the Australian FIFO market”.
Under the terms of the agreement they will formalise a new Charter Partnership to jointly grow their charter operations. Existing contracts will remain with their current operator, but all new contracts will be operated under the Charter Partnership.
The carriers will also enter into agreements to provide and procure services for each other on a preferential basis, including aircraft procurement, spare parts pooling, maintenance and ground handling services.
Alliance Aviation currently operates a fleet of 28 aircraft from bases in Brisbane, Townsville, Cairns, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and Auckland.
