Helloworld loses key online airline representation deal.
Delta Air Lines has just announced the appointment of The Walshe Group as its General Sales Agent for the Australian market. The move is effective 23 May, and sees Delta, which operates daily flights between Sydney and Los Angeles, move across to Walshe from Global Aviation Services, owned by Helloworld Limited.
The Walshe Group has represented Delta in New Zealand for more than 30 years, with the move bringing the Australian operation under the same umbrella. Delta’s new Australian GSA representative office will be based in Sydney and supported by additional GSA staff in Melbourne and Brisbane.
The GSA function includes reservations, ticketing, sales and marketing activities, with the Global Aviation Services staff currently supporting Delta in the process of transitioning to The Walshe Group where applicable.
“The newly consolidated GSA will represent Delta very well in this important Oceania market,” said country manager Australia/NZ Clare Wheatley. “Delta and The Walshe Group team will work to further raise awareness of the Delta brand in the market as well as the Delta-Virgin Australia joint venture between Australia/New Zealand and North America, which seamlessly provides the best products and schedules between the regions,” she said.
