Domestic and international onboard internet access to roll out from mid-2017.
Virgin Australia has just announced the planned installation of in-flight wifi on its Boeing 737-800, Boeing 777 and Airbus A330 aircraft, with ceo John Borghetti confirming the move at the launch of the carrier’s new long haul international business class cabin in Los Angeles today.
“Inflight wi-fi has the potential to transform air travel as we know it. We are determined to give Virgin Australia customers the best possible combined connectivity and entertainment experience in the air,” he said.
Borghetti said while he believes the service will be popular with business travellers, it will also have widespread appeal for all travellers, with further details including the carrier’s technology partners and business model to be revealed by the end of the year.
