Qantas has just unveiled the “next generation cabins” which will feature in its new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft when they arrive in the fleet in about twelve month’s time.
The aircraft will seat 236 passengers in Economy, Premium Economy and Business cabins, with the business seat being the next generation of the popular Qantas A330 product, with the added ability to adjust the divider between each seat and a 1-2-1 configuration giving all business passengers aisle access.
In economy there will be an extra 2.5cm of seat pitch compared to the QF A380 configuration, with an all-new seat featuring a “personal device holder,” USB ports and a slightly larger high-definition entertainment touch screen. The Dreamliner premium economy cabin, featuring a “revolutionary new seat,” will be unveiled early in 2017.
Qantas ceo Alan Joyce said the interiors had been designed for the longer routes the aircraft were likely to fly. “We’re planning to make the most of the 787’s amazing range,” he said.
Details on initial Qantas Dreamliner destinations will be revealed in coming months, with the first international flights on sale before Christmas. Joyce said the aircraft would gradually take over routes operated by the Qantas 747 fleet, as well as adding new city pairs to the network
