High Court rules in favour of ACCC.
Flight Centre has just confirmed that the High Court this morning overturned the previous ruling in FLT’s favour in the long-running competition law test case initiated by the ACCC.
The case alleged that Flight Centre had attempted to induce airlines including Emirates, Singapore Airlines and Malaysia Airlines not to offer prices direct to customers that were lower than those available via the travel agency group.
In 2015 Flight Centre successfully appealed a 2013 Federal Court decision finding it had breached the Trade Practices Act, and was refunded an $11 million fine levied in the case.
However the ACCC referred the matter to the High Court which has today ruled in the Commission’s favour.
Flight Centre said it was currently reviewing the judgement and would provide an update later today.
