Flight Centre Travel Group has paid $252,000 in penalties following two infringement notices from the ACCC.
Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) has come under fire from the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) over alleged “misleading advertisements” promoting holiday vouchers during the 2018 Christmas and 2019 Easter periods.
The group has paid $252,000 in penalties after the ACCC issued two infringement notices for the promotions, which offered $250 vouchers to consumers who spend $1,500 on a holiday package with Flight Centre.
The ACCC believes these advertisements were liable to mislead and breached the Australian Consumer Law as FCTG failed to disclose to consumers that redeeming to $250 voucher was subject to certain conditions, including requiring them to book another holiday with Flight Centre worth more than $5,000.
