SAA bookings excluded from ACS effective immediately.
The AFTA Chargeback Scheme (ACS) is this morning notifying members that they are no longer protected from Supplier Insolvency for any bookings relating to South African Airways.
Effective from 0900 AEDT on 03 December 2019, any credit card payments processed through an ACS merchant facility “will not be protected under the scheme in the event of end supplier failure”.
It’s understood Flight Centre has had SAA on “stop sell” for several days, with the state-owned carrier believed to be in urgent talks with the South African government over a possible restructuring package.
South African Airways is reeling from years of losses as well as a recent strike which saw its entire global network grounded.
