Resignation follows controversy over ACA comments.
The Australian Federation of Travel Agents has just confirmed the resignation of its long-time Chief Executive Officer, Jayson Westbury.
The move comes after a Nine Publishing story yesterday which highlighted comments during a closed AFTA webinar last week where he suggested A Current Affair host Tracy Grimshaw should receive a virtual “uppercut or slap in the face”.
While Westbury stressed his comments should not be taken literally, he acknowledged that they were inappropriate and unacceptable in any circumstances. Although Grimshaw has accepted an “unreserved apology” from Westbury, the AFTA Board has today agreed to accept his resignation.
Courtney Duddleston has been appointed as acting General Manager Operations while a recruitment process is put in place for a replacement Chief Executive.
