Qantas International CEO Tino La Spina to leave the company.
Qantas CEO Alan Joyce has just announced a restructure of the airline’s Group Committee, including the departure of Tino La Spina who became CEO of International just over 12 months ago.
La Spina is leaving “in light of what is likely to be the extended grounding of this part of the airline,” Joyce said, with his responsibilities to transfer to Andrew David, currently CEO of Qantas Domestic and Qantas freight.
“The COVID crisis is forcing us to rethink our business at every level,” Joyce said.
“It’s increasingly clear that our international flights will be grounded until at least mid-2021 and it will take years for activity to return to what it was before,” he said, paying tribute to La Spina who had “done a superb job throughout his 14 years at Qantas”.
La Spina will leave the company effective from 01 September.
