1H 2023 results reflect an important milestone in recovery
The Kiwi carrier is enjoying a strong recovery, posting statutory earnings before tax of $299 million for 1H 2023 – a huge improvement on the $376 million loss for the corresponding period last year.
The operating revenue of $3.1 billion was spurred by increasing demand, with eight million passengers flown compared to three million for the same period in 2021.
The airline’s domestic capacity has returned to 94% of pre-pandemic levels, while international sits at 60% capacity.
“Today’s result reflects an important milestone in our recovery and places us in a strong position to deliver on our strategy,” Air New Zealand Chair Dame Therese Walsh said.
“This result means we can continue to invest in our fleet, our people and our decarbonisation goals, to deliver the customer experience Air New Zealand is world-renown for.”
