IFLYFLAT initiative makes call centres worth the wait.
Airline loyalty program expert Steve “The Points Whisperer” Hui from ATAS-accredited IFLYFLAT has today announced the world’s first ever rewards program allowing points to be earned while waiting on the phone.
Simply titled “Earn Points On Hold”, the scheme will give one point per minute after the first 10 minutes of continuous hold to a call centre, jumping to 10 points per minute after the first 100 minutes on continuous hold. Callers who are still waiting after 1,000 minutes will earn 100 points per minute, while the earn rate jumps to a whopping 500 points per minute if you are still on hold after 10,000 minutes.
The program is expected to be very popular with travel advisors, who are currently enduring wait times of many hours when contacting a range of suppliers on behalf of their clients. Travel Daily is also proud to back the scheme, with publisher Bruce Piper noting that over the last year many readers have complained about extended wait times, most often when calling particular airlines. “Agents spend an awful lot of their day on hold – it’s about time they were able to be rewarded for their patience and perseverance,” he said.
There is an annual cap of 5 million points, and Hui is currently inviting major airlines and telcos to expand the scheme. Pre-registrations – which also include the opportunity to claim back already accrued on-hold points – are now open on a strictly limited basis, with registrations accepted by CLICKING HERE until 11.59am today, 01 April 2023.
