QF plots return to 100% of pre-COVID international flying by March 2024.
Qantas has just announced a significant increase to its international flying from late October, with the addition of about one million seats to the network compared to its current schedule.
More QF aircraft will be returning to service, while the carrier has also confirmed a deal with oneworld partner Finnair to operate two AY Airbus A330s on Qantas routes. An additional A380 will return to service by the end of the year, and Qantas is also taking delivery of three new Boeing 787s.
The additional capacity will be deployed on flights from Australia to the USA, Asia, New Zealand and the Pacific, with the updated schedule also including two new E190 routes ex Brisbane to Honiara and Wellington. Tickets for the new flights will be progressively available for booking from today.
CEO Alan Joyce said the rebound in demand for international travel since borders reopened had been incredibly strong, noting that there was still a mismatch between supply and demand for international flying.
“We know our customers are looking for great value and this additional capacity will also put downward pressure on fares,” he promised.
