A day after cancelling all international flights, Air Vanuatu has entered voluntary liquidation.
The Vanuatu Government has appointed liquidators this morning after the airline scrapped all flights yesterday at short notice, throwing travel plans for many Australians into chaos.
Despite the flagged selling off of assets to pay off debts, the carrier’s statement suggested the “outlook for the airline is positive” and that it was focused on securing the future of the national carrier.
“Representatives of the Voluntary Liquidator are now in Vanuatu conducting safety and maintenance checks of the fleet, ahead of resumption of operations as soon as possible,” Air Vanuatu said.
Affected travellers will be informed of this disruption and rebooked on flights as soon as operations resume, the carrier added.
