The 30-year-industry veteran now leads Fiji Airways.
Former Virgin Australia boss Paul Scurrah is the recipient of a Member of the Order of Australia, recognising his leadership of the airline during the pandemic.
In an interview with The Australian, Scurrah reflected on his role in “ensuring that there was a future for the people of Virgin, that the airline could compete with Qantas going forward and making sure that Australia had a robust competitive domestic airline industry”.
He also expressed his gratitude in a LinkedIn post for “the wonderful people and staff I have lead over the journey who have delivered amazing results, sometimes in unimaginably tough circumstances”.
Scurrah took the role of managing director at Fiji Airways last year.
