The announcement signals the latest progress for THRIVE 2030, Australia’s national long-term visitor economy growth strategy.
The plan outlines how the Albanese Government will continue to support the industry as it works towards its target of $230 billion in visitor expenditure in tourism by 2030.
The roadmap lays out five areas of focus for the period to 2030, including growing international visitation and expenditure from established and emerging inbound markets, such as Southeast Asia and India.
Other priorities include developing and promoting new experiences and events that facilitate greater visitor dispersal, including to regional destinations, and supporting businesses to modernise, build resilience and be more competitive while attracting and retaining a skilled workforce.
“The THRIVE 2030 vision is bold, as it should be,” said Minister for Trade and Tourism Don Farrell.
“My ambition is for a tourism industry that provides world-leading services and experiences, while generating well-paid jobs and opportunities across Australia, including for First Nations, regional and rural communities.”
