The move is part of a refresh of the carrier’s leadership structure, which aims to drive greater customer-centricity and commercial performance.
Virgin Australia will welcome Andrew Cleary onboard from 23 March, taking over from Nick Rohrlach, CEO Velocity Frequent Flyer and VARA group executive.
Cleary joins the carrier from Mandarin Oriental in Hong Kong, where he led the global customer experience team. He also spent seven years in diverse senior management roles at Qantas Airways, including loyalty customer experience transformation.
Rohrlach will depart 30 April after working closely with Cleary during the transition period.
VA CEO and MD Dave Emerson said Cleary’s “experience and deep industry knowledge will ensure we maintain our customer focus and find new ways to make their journey easier to manage and more rewarding”.
Additionally, the carrier’s strategy and transformation team will transition to report directly to Emerson, effective 30 April.
