Virgin Australia and Delta Air Lines have just announced key changes to their Pacific operations, with codeshare services on sale effective immediately for travel from 06 November.
Delta will add its code to all V Australia flights from Los Angeles to Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, while V Australia will codeshare on DL’s daily flights from Sydney to LAX.
And from November, flights operated by V Australia will arrive at Terminal 5 at Los Angeles International Airport, allowing for easier and faster connections to the rest of the Delta network.
“The start of trans-Pacific codesharing and arrival co-location at T5 in Los Angeles mark the first major steps toward establishing our joint venture, which will provide significant benefits for our customers,” said DL vice president – Alliances, Charlie Pappas.
The next phase of the deal will see further expansion of the existing codeshare on each airlines’ domestic networks, “further improving connectivity of our services and giving Virgin Australia guests access to 250 destinations across the United States, Canada and Mexico,” said Virgin Australia group executive Merren McArthur.
Passengers of Delta and V Australia will be offered three Trans-Pacific services per day, with the joint venture also allowing the carriers to spread departure times out of Sydney to improve connections.
