Qantas jets airbourne again.
Qantas mainline aircraft around the country and the world have slowly recommenced operation after the Civil Aviation Safety Authority granted the Australia-flag carrier approval to resume services shortly before 4pm AEDST today.
The move comes after Qantas advised passengers booked on services from this afternoon onwards that they should head to the airport, warning that “some delays may be experienced.”
“Where possible, Qantas will look to schedule additional services to help clear the backlog of passengers affected by the grounding of the Qantas fleet,” the carrier said in a statement.
QF says it expects to have restored its schedule to normal within 24 to 48 hours.
The carrier also reiterated sincere regrets for the impact the industrial action over recent months has had on passengers “and looks forward to a rapid recovery and period of stability.”
MEANWHILE, Virgin Australia will operate its first domestic service using one of V Australia’s 777-300 aircraft between Sydney and Melbourne tomorrow morning to help uplift stranded Qantas passengers, on flight DJ9502 departing at 10:30am.
