Aerolineas Argentinas to operate five weekly Sydney-Buenos Aires nonstop flights.
Aerolineas Argentinas has just confirmed its new non-stop route between Australia (Sydney) and Argentina (Buenos Aires), with the current intermediate stop in Auckland to be dropped effective 01 Jul.
The carrier will also increase the Sydney-Buenos Aires services from the current thrice weekly operation to five times a week from December, with all frequencies to be operated using an Airbus A340.
The move sees Aerolineas take on the former Qantas South America non-stop route, which this week was switched to Sydney-Santiago.
New Zealand will continue to be served “through agreements with other partner airlines,” according to a statement from Aerolineas Argentinas.
The changes are part of a rationalisation of the AR international long haul network, which will see it reallocate capacity to fast-growing Latin American markets and a “more conservative approach in terms of capacity deployment to European destinations”.
Aerolineas will increase frequencies to Caracas, Bogota and Barcelona and will maintain daily flights to Madrid and Miami.
“Aerolineas Argentinas is committed to continue serving the South Pacific, becoming the best option for passengers flying to Argentina and other South American destinations, focusing our main efforts in increasing nonstop frequencies,” said the carrier’s ceo, Mariano Recalde.
