29 July 2013: Rail Plus in conjunction with Consolidated Travel, Orient-Express and Mandarin Oriental Hotels recently treated some of Australia’s top travel agents to an unforgettable journey on the luxurious Eastern & Oriental Express.
The group spent two nights in Bangkok at the Mandarin Oriental before stepping on board one of the world’s most iconic trains to experience beautiful sleeping compartments, elegant dining cars and two stylish bars, one of which offers a large open-air observation deck.
The three-night voyage from Thailand through Malaysia and across the straights of Johor to Singapore passed rice fields, rainforests, temples and rubber plantations.
Before arriving in the Lion City, where they enjoyed two nights at the Mandarin Oriental Singapore, the agents also hopped off the train for a variety of side trips, including a cruise along the River Kwai, a visit to the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre and a tour of colonial Georgetown. |
