DANNI Minogue, the official ambassador of Virgin Australia and Westfield’s online shopping mall, is such
an avid flyer of Etihad Airways and Virgin Australia that she knows the flight attendants by name and they don’t
need to show her the menu because they already know what she will order. Minogue’s travel habits were revealed at the launch of the new Virgin/Westfield partnership (TD yesterday), with Virgin Australia gm of Public Affairs, Danielle Keighery, saying that Velocity has
evolved from a domestic frequent flyer program as “we now have global coverage”. Virgin Australia offers coverage to 150 destinations through its code share agreements with EY and NZ, and Velocity gm Phil
Gunter said that if the alliance with Singapore Airlines gets the green light the group will “have Asia covered” with the “best seat availability.” Robert Jordan, Westfield’s
Australia and NZ MD said Westfield is the first shopping
centre group in Australia to offer members access to a ‘buy and fly’ loyalty program. The online shopping mall was launched in Apr and has been a ‘phenomonal success” changing the “whole process of shopping”.
