Dennis Bunnik is heading back to Egypt from 12 Feb to 1 March to travel with a number of Bunnik Tours groups.
This is part of the activities to mark the one year anniversary of my trip to Cairo during the Egypt uprising.
I’ll be travelling for a few days with 3 different Bunnik Tours groups and as such will be visiting all the sights including the Pyramids, Luxor, Nile Cruise, Aswan and Abu Simbel.
While in Cairo I will also be meeting with the chairman of the Egyptian Tourism Authority to discuss ways to get Australians back to Egypt. Whilst many European countries are back in Egypt Australian travellers have been slower to return. Having said that every Bunnik Tours passenger to travel to Egypt over the past 10 months has coming back raving about the country and the wonderful hospitality they received from the Egyptians. They have also be commenting on how great it is to see the sights without the large crowds. The challenge for us, and the rest of the Australian travel industry is to communicate that Egypt is open for business and that tourists are safe.
As such my other big reason for going to Egypt is to report back on the real situation on the ground from tourist’s perspective. Whilst the media keeps focussing only on the protests I’ll be reporting back on how the Egyptian tourism industry is going and how tourists are experiencing the country.
I will be updating our Bunnik Tours Blog every few days. The first (pre-trip) story is up already and can be accessed by clicking on the following link.
