Long-time China tour specialist Helen Wong re-entered the school classroom recently, not as a student but a recipient of a certificate of recognition for her company’s contribution to Sydney TAFE which offers tourism as one of its many courses.
Helen Wong’s Tours, founded by Helen 26 years ago, was one of Sydney TAFE’s inaugural Industry Champions, commended for its work in providing professional support to the teachers and students.
Helen received the certificate of commendation from NSW Tourism Minister George Souris during Sydney TAFE’s 40th Anniversary celebrations.
“Like many others companies who are represented tonight, Helen Wong’s Tours helps with training and employment of students,” said David Riordan, Director Sydney TAFE institute.
“However, a few years ago she also helped with the negotiation and implementation of a highly specialised new tour wholesaling computerised reservation program,” he said.
“This kind of support is fantastic as it helps keep us current and our students get so much benefit from these types of initiatives.”
On receiving the recognition, Helen said this was a very proud moment for her and her staff.
“I’m truly privileged to have played a role in providing support to the tourism program at Sydney TAFE,” she said. “I too look forward to continuing the relationship to the benefit of future students.” |
