FOOD has clearly been very much on the mind of Qantas ceo Alan Joyce recently. On Wed he topped off a recent appearance on Channel 10’s Masterchef with another culinary highlight – the launch of the new $72m Q Catering Centre at Brisbane Airport. The project, due for completion late next year, will create the first new Qantas catering facility in more than two decades. Qld Premier Anna Bligh, who’s pictured above helping Joyce and two other staff hand around the nibblies, said the project was a vote of confidence in the Queensland economy. It will boost Q Catering’s annual production capacity in Brisbane by 25% to almost 11 million meals. |
