TravelManagers’ Personal Travel Managers, Belynda Fulmer-Davies representative for Gorokan, Jane McLoughney representative for Elrington and Lee-Anne Talbott representative for Blue Bay recently held the inaugural “Personal Travel Managers Expo” on the New South Wales Central Coast. Michael Gazal, General Manager for TravelManagers says the initiative was a great way to explain to potential clients the role of the personal travel manager.
“The expo enabled them to speak directly with hundreds of people interested in their next holiday while indirectly providing an opportunity to potentially look for a different approach as to how they currently book it.”
Gazal says the “Personal Travel Managers Expo” is just one example in a string of activities initiated by personal travel managers to grow their client base and awareness.
“Our personal travel managers have initiated all sorts of local activities from fashion in the field at Newcastle Jockey Club’s Spring Racing Carnival, a cruise fair in Perth, a seniors’ travel expo in Townsville and a shopping centre information booth at Lansdale in Western Australia. This regular activity demonstrates how successful it is for them to drive their own local marketing activity ensuring they are seen in their community as a local business but with the benefits of being connected to a national brand.”
The “Personal Travel Managers Expo” was held at Wyong Rugby League Club for four hours on a recent Saturday with the personal travel managers tapping into the networks of Central Coast Advocate and local radio station 2GO, who also did live reads from the adjoining car park.
Fulmer-Davies says the turnout exceeded their expectations.
“People were genuinely interested in learning more about various destinations from the presentations we had throughout the day, thanks to the support of the 22 industry suppliers in attendance. Excitingly we secured over 100 sales leads.”
McLoughney says during the course of the day lucky door prizes were awarded every half an hour ranging from travel bags, bottles of wine, travel diaries and the like. Attendees went into a draw to win one of three major prizes as an incentive for anyone that booked a holiday in the seven days following the expo.
“We couldn’t have done this without the support of our suppliers who really went the extra mile. Royal Caribbean Cruises International provided an overnight cruise, Sunlover Holidays provided a $300 gift voucher and G Adventures generously provided a $2000 voucher. We’ve already set a date and booked the venue for 2013 as it really was a fantastic success.”
